Synopsis

The moving love stories of a mother and daughter, played out against the turbulent backdrop of World War Two For years, Queenie and her daughter Laura have had to protect each other from Jock Maclaren's violent temper. In 1940 the compulsory evacuation of all women and children from the Maclaren's homeland, Gibraltar, offers the perfect chance to escape him. Queenie's rekindled relationship with her first love, Freddie de Falla, and Laura's engagement to his son, Jamie, strengthens their resolve to make the break permanent. In London during the height of the Blitz, they determine to play their part in the war effort, But neither of them has yet heard that Jock is in England - and won't rest until he's found them...
