Grade 1-3-- Three visually appealing titles for beginning scientists. The full-color photographs, especially those depicting scenery, are reminiscent of those found in National Geographic . Unfortunately, the texts are average at best. Electricity and Magnetism looks at how these forces are generated and some of their uses. Experiments show the construction of a light circuit, demonstrate conductors and short circuits, and introduce the compass and force fields. Light explains the human eye, color spectrums, mirror reflections, and animal camouflage. Instructions for making a magnifying glass and a kaleidoscope are outlined, but not detailed. Weather and its effects on plant and animal life are examined in the third book. Projects that show the use of wind, the dissipation of heat, the evaporation of water, and the movement of clouds are included.
