About the Authors

Navid Rabiee is a PhD candidate of inorganic chemistry at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, under supervision of M Bagherzadeh. Since 2016, he has worked on several fields with a multidisciplinary approach by blending modern molecular and cellular biology/biochemical sciences with engineering principles to design the next generation of medical systems and devices for patient treatment. His work has resulted in publication of more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious journals including Nature, Nature Medicine, The Lancet, and Nano Today, as well as five books, more than 20 chapters and five conference papers.

Michael R Hamblin is a Principal Investigator at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He has interests in photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photobiomodulation. He has published 420 peer-reviewed articles, is Editor-in-Chief of Photobiomodulation, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, Associate Editor for 10 other journals and serves on NIH Study Sections. He has an h-factor of 91 and >33 000 citations. He has authored/edited 23 textbooks on PDT and photomedicine including SPIE proceedings. Hamblin was elected as a Fellow of SPIE in 2011, received the first Endre Mester Lifetime Achievement Award Photomedicine from NAALT in 2017, and an Outstanding Career Award from the Dose Response Society in 2018.
