Mandy Stanley was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk. She attended Great Yarmouth College of Art and Design and then went on to do a fashion degree in Nottingham. Mandy has won awards for her soft toy designs and has also worked as a children's clothes designer. She now works full time as a children's book illustrator on books such as Roo the Roaring Dinosaur and My First French Book: A Bilingual Introduction to Words, Numbers, Shapes and Colours.
PreSchool-Grade 1-This elaborate concept book encourages identification and matching, with simple, recognizable animals and objects to reinforce shape association, mirror images, pairs, big and small, sorting, straight or curved lines, and patterns. Uncluttered cartoon illustrations fill each spread with movement and bold color. This book does not merely present pictures, but also encourages discussion with a series of questions and interactive games. "Which is the longest rectangle?" "How many triangles can you count on the tent?" "How many circles can you see on the clown?" This is an excellent sequential presentation for children's collections and curriculum materials, with imaginative, easily identifiable artwork.
