She is the author of all of the books in the Kingfisher Riding Club series - First Riding Lessons, Horses & Ponies, Horse & Pony Breeds, and Horse & Pony Care - as well as Horse & Pony Factfile.

Bob Langrish has been the sole photographer for about 60 equestrian books. He lives in the center of horse country in the Cotswolds, England.

The in-depth hints and tips are the kind most often gleaned from people with years of experience with horses (soaking a full haynet in water for a while helps those horses with dust allergies and breathing problems; human sunscreen can be applied to the noses of pink-nosed animals to prevent sunburn). A spread on shoeing demystifies this oft-neglected topic and examines types of shoes and farriers' tools, and provides 15 photographs chronicling the removal of an old shoe and the fitting of a new one. The text is clear even when addressing topics that may be unfamiliar to readers with no background on the subject. Sharp, colorful photographs portray useful, if not always the cleanest and most beautiful aspects of equine care. This book effectively conveys what most do not-the amount of hard work involved in caring for these creatures.
