Flip the Flaps is a fun way for young children to discover the answers to questions about their favorite subjects, while also flipping the flaps and spotting the scene changes.
Flip The Flaps: Seashore - by Hannah Wilson and Simon Mendez - uncovers essential and extraordinary facts about the wonderful things that live in and around the seashore, from penguins diving into the sea to turtles burrowing in the sand.

Hannah Wilson has edited and ghost-written children's books, both non-fiction and fiction, for over 10 years, and has recently started writing in her own name. Her first love is animals, and she has penned books about puppies, wildlife photographers and reptiles. When she is not reading or writing, Hannah likes to get out of London in her campervan and climb rocks.
Simon Mendez is a freelance artist in Yorkshire, England. He has a degree in scientific illustration, and he uses a variety of techniques to achieve a high level of detail in his artwork. Simon is also an avid photographer, which helps him in his research.
Not quite a pop-up book but still containing an interactive element, the Flip the Flaps series takes a basic informational approach to broad topics and adds a single question-and-answer page flap per spread. The author and illustrator of each volume are given leeway within the format, so each book should be given individual evaluation. Seashore features beautiful spreads by Mendez, who paints his coastal scenes with a soft realism so accurate they are occasionally indistinguishable from photographs. Wilson, meanwhile, introduces readers to the plant and wildlife present at shorelines everywherenot just the classic sandy beach but also a salt marsh, arctic region, and mangrove swamp. Each top flap presents three questions (How does a fishing cat catch fish?), which are answered underneath, along with a modification of the original illustration. Perfect for light, educational browsing. Back matter consists of a simple index. Preschool-Grade 1. --Daniel Kraus
