Ian Fleming, best known for his James Bond novels, wrote only one children’s book—and it is a classic! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the name of the flying, floating, driving-by-itself automobile that takes the Pott family on a riotous series of adventures as they try to capture a notorious gang of robbers. This is a story filled with humor, adventure, and gadgetry that only a genius like Fleming could create.

Ian Fleming was born in 1908. After extensive studies, he joined Reuters News Service in 1929 and was stationed in London, Berlin, and Moscow. During World War II, he spent several years in the British Intelligence Service, which well prepared him to create the enigmatic 007, and the fantasmic auto, Chitty.
The Potts are not an ordinary family, so one wouldn't expect them to buy an ordinary car. And they don't. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang turns out to be a most unusual car, and she sees the family through adventure after adventure. Andrew Sachs is the perfect reader for this production. His British accent sets the scene, and his proper delivery heightens the silliness as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang reveals her secrets to the Potts. Sachs creates enough variations in the voices of the main characters to distinguish one from another. This production is ideal for road trips and will keep the entire family laughing.
