A detailed account of Waffen-SS battles, from the recapture of Kharkov in early 1943, to the last desperate attempt to hold the Red Army from Berlin in 1945 - a string of battles that are arguably the finest defensive actions of modern warfare. Highlights include: how SS commanders became masters of tank warfare; the use of offensive tactics during defensive battles; the development of German tank and armoured fighting vehicle technology; and the methods that enabled troops to survive ferocious Soviet artillery bombardments. Well done!

This book is a must read for anyone interested in the battles fought by the Waffen-SS Pz Divisions on the brutal battlefields of the Eastern Front. The book is split into around 12 chapters from Kharkov, Kursk, Cherkassy to Operation Spring Awakening etc. The book mainly focus's on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd SS Divisions but also includes the likes of the 5th, 9th and 12th SS Divisions. The book itself is a very well writen and a most enjoyable read, often alittle funny in some parts, with over 180 b/w pictures included. Overall a great book. --By A Customer
