Born in Detroit, Joseph P. Cabadas is a longtime automotive reporter and the award-winning author of Motorbooks' River Rouge: Ford's Industrial Colossus (2005) and The American Auto Factory (2003). He lives in Dearborn, Michigan.
Famous for its streamlined style and art deco details, the '40 Ford is revered among today's classic car and hot rod enthusiasts. Automotive historian Joe Cabadas explores the design changes of the 1930s that culminated with the legendary "Forty," tracing the model's evolution in the context of the political climates on the world stage and behind the walls of Ford Motor Company. All body styles are discussed, including trucks, as are the cars' rollicking histories in motorsports and hot rodding. Illustrated throughout with photography and period art, much of it culled from The Benson Ford Research Center at The Henry Ford, '40 Ford is the definitive history of these vehicles and a fitting tribute to an icon of American transportation.
