From the Back Cover

Over the past generation, motorcycle technology has changed more than in the previous century, and so have the tools with which we tune them. No single area has changed more than motorcycle engine management, thanks to massive leaps forward in computer technology. Today's fuel-injected bikes are far more efficient and powerful than the carbureted motorcycles of yore, but to many of us, especially those of us who cut our teeth on carbureted motorcycles, the complex electronic engine-management systems seem like esoteric voodoo. They're not; in reality, modern motorcycles are infinitely more tunable than carbureted bikes, and anyone can tune them--with a little guidance, of course. "How to Tune and Modify Motorcycle Engine Management Systems" provides that guidance. In this book, author Tracy Martin addresses all of a modern motorcycle's engine-control systems and tells you how to get the most out of today's bikes. Topics covered include: How fuel injection worksAftermarket fuel injection systemsOpen-loop and closed-loop EFI systemsFuel injection products and servicesTuning and troubleshootingGetting more power from your motorcycle engineDiagnostic toolsElectronic throttle control (ETC)Knock control systemsModern fuelsInteractive computer-controlled exhaust systems
