Gr 4-7-A dual biography of two Chicago Bulls superstars. Most of the book is the standard material of sports biography, giving the facts about the players' childhoods, college, and then pro careers, with a few (not enough) action photos thrown in. Included is the usual compilation of season summaries and quotes culled, presumably, from newspapers and sports magazines, bringing the story to a close with a short summary of the Bulls' triumph over Utah in June of 1998. The dual-biography approach works well with Pippen and Jordan because there is such a contrast in their early careers. Jordan played for North Carolina in one of the finest college programs in the country. Pippen played for little-known Central Arkansas and was scheduled to be the equipment manager in his freshman year. The fact that he ended up in the pros at all is something of a basketball miracle. Of course, many biographies have been written on Michael Jordan, and Pippen has been covered in Bob Schnakenberg's Scottie Pippen (Lerner, 1997). With the future of the "teammates" in doubt at this point, librarians may want to think twice before adding this title to their collections.-Todd Morning, Schaumburg Township Public Library, IL
