reSchool-Grade 1-This basic introduction talks about the workings of the human body. The section "Body Repair Cycles" connects energy gained from food with the replacement of skin, fingernails, and hair; "Breath Cycles" tells about the uses of life-giving oxygen; and "The Blood Cycle" describes how both food energy and oxygen are pumped from the heart around the body and back again. Moore's watercolors, which feature pinks, blues, and purples and washed-out skin tones, show children engaged in activity; the section on blood has simplistic diagrams of the inner organs, some superimposed on the figures. The "My Body" series (Rosen/PowerKids) and the "True Book" series (Children's) have more detailed information.
