Reviews

Grade 3-6-This informative book covers Tubman's life from her birth as a slave to her work as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. Important events and contributions in her later years are touched on briefly. Sidebars provide further information on the time period and discuss subjects such as Uncle Tom's Cabin and "The First Black Troops" to fight in the Civil War. A time line and numerous black-and-white and color photographs and reproductions enhance the text. There are no chapter breaks. Though this is a suitable introduction to Tubman, libraries with abundant materials on her will find it an additional purchase.
