About the Author
Dr. Alvin Silverstein is a former Professor of Biology and Director of the Physician Assistant Program at the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York.
Virginia B. Silverstein is a translator of Russian scientific literature. The Silversteins have produced more than two hundred published books that have received high acclaim from reviewers for their clear, timely, and authoritative coverage of science and health topics.
Laura Silverstein Nunn, a graduate of Kean College, began helping with the research for her parents' books while she was in high school. Since joining the writing team, she has coauthored more than eighty books, including titles in the ENDANGERED IN AMERICA series, the SCIENCE CONCEPTS series, the SENSES AND SENSORS series, and the WHAT A PET! series. Laura lives with her husband Matt and their son Cory.
