Tina the beaver and her family constantly rush off in different directions, until a storm keeps them snowbound at home.

Nancy Carlson is the author and illustrator of over 60 picture books including bestseller I Like Me! Nancy graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. When Nancy is not drawing pictures and writing stories you can find her hiking, biking, or playing golf!
PreSchool-Grade 3-- The beavers in this tale represent the typical family of today--overprogrammed. Afterschool and after work activities range from daughter Tina's ballet and volleyball classes to Dad's bridge game and cake-decorating class, not to mention Mom's tennis game and aerobics. All this results in the family's spending little time together--that is, until a major snowstorm arrives. When confined to their home for the day, they make some wonderful discoveries about each other. Carlson uses these busy beavers to portray a very real situation. Her simple text is reinforced by whimsical, full-color drawings that add humor to the characters' dilemmas. Perhaps after "taking time to relax" and reading this book, parents and children will see that it's okay to miss a soccer game or a ballet class occasionally. In fact, it can be quite rewarding. --Rachel Fox, Port Washington Public Library, NY
