About the Authors
Author Patricia Hubbell is the author of ten books of poetry for children, including Boo! Halloween Poems and Limericks as well as Trucks: Whizz! Zoom! Rumble! Her poems appear in numerous anthologies. She lives in Easton, Connecticut.
Megan Halsey and Sean Addy live in Pennsylvania. Ms. Halsey also illustrated Trains: Steaming! Pulling! Huffing!

PreSchool-Grade 1–Hubbell's third ode to things that go is sure to be a hit. The rollicking text features witty rhymes that present a wide variety of wheeled vehicles, including limousines, taxis, police cars, and race cars. Start the motor! Turn the key!/Compact car or SUV. Detailed collages are rendered in clip art, etchings, and original drawings. The vibrant and intricate illustrations feature a large family of rabbits in a station wagon and Dalmatians driving fire trucks. As taxis swerve and dodge across pages, the text rolls and bumps as well. Some spreads require turning the book sideways. The writer and illustrators of Trucks: Whizz! Zoom! Rumble! (2003) and Trains: Steaming! Pulling! Huffing! (2005) offer a visually intriguing introduction to the automobile. The rhyming text rolls smoothly along as it presents a wide variety of vehicles--from hot rods to limousines to vans--that fit under the broad heading of cars. Color heightens the appeal of the clip art, stamps, etchings, maps, and original drawings, which come together in the paper-collage illustrations. The humor of incongruity (an elephant driving an SUV, flamingos in a sports car, a filling-station octopus pumping gas) gives a bit of spark to the retro-style art.
