"Built in 1917 as a planned worker community for a steel company that has long since vanished, Marktown is a historic district that is home to some 650 residents. Marktown's two-story stucco homes, all in Tudor Revival style and painted in pastels for color and variety, line narrow streets that were once given mention in Robert Ripley's 'Believe It or Not' column. Ripley, chronicler of the unique, noted that Marktown residents used the streets as walkways and parked their cars on the sidewalks."
