Susan Wojciechowski recalls that the inspiraiton for Beany came when she was in bed with a cold. "Beany just stayed there and by the time I was well, the stories were written."

Beany can't wait to be a flower girl in her favorite cousin's wedding. Actually, she's excited and scared at the same time. What if she has to wear a really ugly dress? What if she throws out all the flower petals before she gets to the end of the aisle? Beany's worries and concerns are endless. As readers will discover, Beany's best friend, Carol Ann, is a fount of not-so-helpful information. Still, most of the child's fears turn out to be unfounded and even the minor scrapes she gets herself into turn out fine. This young heroine proves to readers that things are rarely as bad as they might anticipate.
