From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 1-In the school musical, students parade across the stage and act out their choices for their future professions. From mermaid to pirate, parent to poet, king of the jungle to royalty, the jolly children cavort amid props both fancy and happily homemade. A final, scuba-geared boy stops cold and wails, "I don't wanna grow up!" His teacher comes to the rescue and soothes him by saying, "Enjoy your childhood/while you may-/Growing up is/years away!" The bright pencil-and-watercolor illustrations show a stage framed by red curtains and complete with the usual scenery of classroom plays. Youngsters waiting to make their appearance peek out from the sides, and the doting parents in the audience occasionally make encouraging comments. The rhyming text, while sometimes forced, moves along briskly. Readers will enjoy the wildly imaginative career speculation that mirrors that of typical children.-Marge Loch-Wouters, Menasha's Public Library, WI
