Synopsis
Being a fairy isn’t easy! Betty seems to get everything wrong. There’s no way she’ll be picked as the Fairiest Fairy. Or is there?
Betty can’t paint a rainbow or scatter dewdrops, and her pirouettes are, well, pretty precarious. With so many animals to rescue and friends to help, there’s just no time for Betty to perfect all the things a fairy is supposed to know how to do. But when the fairy ball arrives, Betty’s friends return her gifts of kindness in hopes that the King and Queen will decide that Betty truly is the Fairiest Fairy of them all!

About the Author
Anne Booth always wanted to be a children’s writer, but has also cleared tables in a restaurant, sold books, been a tour guide at a haunted medieval hospital, taught English in Italy, and organized arts and crafts in a nursing home, among other things. Anne Booth lives in Kent, England, with her husband, four children, two hens, and two dogs.
Rosalind Beardshaw is the illustrator of Funny Face, Sunny Face; Just Right for Christmas; and Just Right for Two as well as many other picture books. When she was ten years old, a television star and artist visited Rosalind’s school and inspired her to draw and draw and draw. She’s still drawing today. She lives in York, England, with her partner and children.

PreS-Gr 2-Some fairies are not very good at performing magic, as readers quickly find out in this sweet picture book. Betty, the protagonist of this tale, never seems to get the hang of it. Her dewdrops just make puddles, she can't wake up flowers, and her rainbows turn out crooked and messy. However, this curly-haired sprite seems to have an affinity for animals and assists them during each obstacle they face. When the Fairy Ball arrives, her animal friends help her win the most coveted "fairest of them all" title. Brightly colored mixed-media illustrations help tell the story and will keep little ones engaged for one-on-one reading.
