About the Author

Mark L. Gonzalgo, MD, PhD is currently Associate Professor of Urology and Director of Robotic-Assisted Urologic Cancer Surgery at Stanford University.'Dr. Gonzalgo is a board-certified and fellowship-trained urologic oncologist with expertise in robotic prostatectomy, robotic cystectomy for bladder cancer, robotic kidney surgery, and laparoscopic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer.'Dr. Gonzalgo was Associate Professor of Urology and Director of the Fellowship Program in Urologic Oncology at The Johns Hopkins Brady Urological Institute prior to joining the faculty at Stanford.'He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of California at Berkeley and completed medical and graduate school at the University of Southern California.'Dr. Gonzalgo completed his general surgery and urology training at Johns Hopkins and a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.'Dr. Gonzalgo is a recognized expert in DNA methylation and is particularly interested in developing new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for cancer detection and treatment.'He has carried out pioneering research on the molecular biology and early detection of prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer and has published extensively on the scientific and clinical aspects of these diseases.
