Introduction

In our oscillating world of moral relativism, God's commandments stand as firm as the rocks they were etched into. Children want and need absolute standards. In Generation Next, George Barna tells us that 92 percent of Christian teens feel that what is right for one person in a certain situation may not be right for another person in a similar situation. It is only God's unchanging standards for morality that form the foundation of a sane society. Yet this is only one function of the Law.

Simply put, "The law was put in charge to lead us to Christ" (Galatians 3:24a). Let the departure and destination point of your travels be this humbling discovery: We know that through the Law our sin is real, that through the Cross our sin is gone!

This guidebook will lead you and your children into these joyful discoveries. Thank you for your love and dedication in bringing God's Word to wandering young travelers. Teaching God's law is not optional. (See Deuteronomy 11:19.) As our kids journey through their murky gray world, I hope this book will serve as a sentinel crying out, "Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!" (Deuteronomy 5:29).
