Review

C++ for Dummies, like all of the Dummies books, is an exercise in edutainment. The book is littered with cartoons, one-liners, cute symbols, checklists, and hints. Beneath all of the fun, author Stephen Davis provides a handy road map of C++ complete with warning signs to help beginners avoid stylistic and conceptual mistakes. The book contains useful pointers for programmers who use Microsoft and Borland C++ compilers and highlights some of the nonstandard features of these compilers. C++ for Dummies is full of apt metaphors that bring some of the more difficult-to-grasp concepts to life.
