John Quinterno is the founder and principal of South by North Strategies, Ltd., a research consultancy specializing in economic and social policy. Over the course of his career, Quinterno has directed multiple applied research projects into matters of labor economics, workforce development, regional policy, social insurance, and postsecondary education.
Known for a clear communication style and an ability to translate complex issues into forms easily grasped by public officials and citizens, Quinterno has become a respected commentator on policy matters. His writings about policy topics have appeared in numerous publications, and his analyses feature regularly in media stories about economic and social policy.
Quinterno also is a visiting lecturer at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, where he teaches master's-level courses in regional analysis.
