Reviews

The second edition of this specialized encyclopedia groups a tremendously wide range of topics under the general rubric of “culture wars.” New additions include more than 120 primary documents. Coverage ranges from biographies of social commentators, such as Pat Buchanan, David Horowitz, and Naomi Wolf, to various political topics, including Affirmative action and Welfare reform. The entries do a good job of explaining why the topics they address are part of the culture wars, and many lay out opposing viewpoints as well as providing context and background, making this ideal for pro/con assignments. Recommended for collections in academic and large public libraries. --Rebecca Vnuk
