From School Library Journal

Grade 7 Up-- A book filled with insightful and practical advice on how to choose, develop, and present a science fair project. Bombaugh provides the type of details--such as never throw away data and make sure someone proofreads your report--that first-time science fair participants need. She describes the process by which several of her students--boys and girls--planned their projects. Black-and-white photographs of the students' final presentations are scattered throughout the book; unfortunately, they are muddy and lack clarity. Not surprising, many are award-winning projects. The writing is enthusiastic and filled with a joy of learning. Useful appendices list prize-winning experiments, science material and book suppliers, related reading, and tips for teachers. A wonderful book that should be a first stop for science-fair-bound students and their teachers. --Alan Newman, American Chemical Society, Washington, D.C.
