From Booklist:
Reviewed with Carin T. Ford's The Wright Brothers.

Gr. 2-3. Answering the burgeoning assignment demand for biographies at this level, these profiles from the Famous Inventors series combine terse accounts of their ever-popular subjects' lives and major accomplishments with captioned prints and photos, all backed by a handful of noncommercial Web resources and recent, age-appropriate books. Ford adds enough context to give younger readers a sense of each figure's historical significance, and closes with basic inspirational themes: the Wright brothers simply never gave up on their youthful dreams of controlled flight, and Franklin rose from humble origins to international renown through "hard work and a lifetime full of learning." Bright colors and an open page design add visual appeal, and sturdy bindings promise extralong shelf life--not that these will spend that much time on library shelves. John Peters

From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-3-Franklin's long and accomplished life is difficult to fit into 28 pages; however, enough information is provided to get a sense of the man. Organized chronologically, the book moves from Franklin's childhood to his early career as a printer, introduces some of his inventions, and then covers his roles as a leader in the American Revolution and a diplomat to France. The print is large, the layout is colorful and inviting, and many reproductions are included. While it does not match the artistic accomplishment of James Cross Giblin's The Amazing Life of Benjamin Franklin (2000) or use primary sources the way Peter and Connie Roop do in their Benjamin Franklin (2001, both Scholastic), this entry will serve its purpose for young report writers.
