This comprehensive "hands-on" text provides a clear focus on cabling for LANs, security systems, telephones, or CATV. This book fills a void in the communications world by featuring detailed instruction on how state-of-the-art cable installation should be done. Separate sections on fiber optics and copper wiring clarify both and highlight the differences in installation. The background material helps the student understand why and how the networks and cable systems work, while describing the components used, and step-by-step procedures for both installing and verifying performance. Chapters arranged for classroom instruction and lab or practice exercises include a complete set of questions for review.
