When Shelby moves to Virgin River after devoting the past several years to her dying mother, she definitely doesn’t expect to meet the perfect man. And Luke Riordan, a cocky retired Blackhawk pilot, certainly has no intention of filling that role for the sheltered young woman who catches his eye on his first day in the area. But life continually surprises the town’s residents, and readers will enjoy renewing their acquaintance with several familiar characters, as well as meeting a few new ones who form the bedrock of this community-minded small mountain town in northern California, the setting for Carr’s fast-moving, emotional, and tender ongoing contemporary romance series. --Lynne Welch
