Reviews

Kindergarten-Grade 2-A pleasant but undistinguished introduction with cheerful cartoon illustrations. On a series of double-page spreads, questions that young children might ask are posed and answered with a simple explanation. Many pages have a "Did you know?" inset with an interesting related fact. The same little boy is pictured sleeping in various positions on each spread. At times, the inquiries range pretty far from bedtime-e.g., "How long would it take to fly to the moon?"-giving the impression that the authors are trying to fill space. A real failing is the presentation of ethnic diversity. Although skin tones vary, they are all shades of tan. In one picture, it is only because the children are standing on Africa and Asia that they can be identified as people from those continents. A pedestrian effort.
