From the front flap of this 336-page book: "This book contains information on cars rarely seen on public roads. However, you are bound to be familiar with a lot of the models depicted. For example, the famous Model T Ford that was produced in 1913 used methods which, at the time, were extremely progressive. A long rope was attached to the chassis which was then pulled through the factory and, as the car passed by, various components were attached to it. Then there is the famous Spijker, later called the Spyker, that surely everyone has heard of. Messrs. Daimler and Benz constructed their first cars independently of each other more than one hundred years ago. Carl Benz's creation was a three-wheeler with a gas engine which was test-driven for the first time through the streets of Mannheim in 1885. In the same year, Gottlieb Daimler's car was driven from Cannstatt to Unterturkheim. The motor's capacity was just 0.5 hp. It was only in 1926 that Daimler and Benz decided to combine their tw
