After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Kentucky, Rena Vicini started her career as an investigative journalist and courtroom trial reporter at a small daily newspaper. Soon the Lexington, Ky., native was writing for the Louisville Courier-Journal before returning to Lexington as a columnist and writer for the Lexington Herald-Leader. Vicini left the newspaper industry to accept a job as a Publications and PR Director for the University of Kentucky. When the Turpin murder occurred, Vicini worked on campus, which gave her unique access to several key characters in the book. She also has ghostwritten two other books.
