The journey opens with a brief foray into a scientifically suspect prehistory (dinosaurs and people together?) and ends in present-day New Orleans. Despite a romantic slant on reincarnation, a hero and heroine that you know exceedingly well by the end of the book, and a high level of action and sensuality, the book is overly long and flabby. Readers might also be interested in Diana Gabaldon's classic "Outlander" series.
