Synopsis

Homicide detective Luke Kirby has retreated to his family's cabin near Rocky Mountain National Park for the seventh anniversary of his beloved wife's death. When he arrives in the middle of a blizzard, he finds a woman asleep on the couch. She's suffering from amnesia, a concussion, and a bullet graze to her arm. The only clue to her identity is a personal digital assistant that identifies her as Amelia E. Hart. As Luke and Amelia leave the cabin and his disabled SUV, they fear that a passel of bad guys is on their trail. Meanwhile an eco-terrorist is at work, while right-wingers are stealing SHIELD, a bio-tech body armor that could have immense significance for crime and terrorism. Dr. Knight, the creator of SHIELD, has been murdered, and his bland but eidetic daughter (known as his file cabinet) has disappeared. Fans of Tami Hoag, Iris Johansen, and Catherine Coulter's Sherlock and Savich series will find Jones' fast-paced and suspenseful romance satisfying, even though it's kinder and gentler.
