About the Author:

Dr. Mello holds a Doctoral degree in Studio/Jazz Guitar at the University of Southern California, M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas, and a B.M. from the University of Massachusetts. On both Nylon String and Electric guitar his mastery of a multitude of local guitar dialects and astoundingly singular artistic sensibilities has rendered him a high profile contributor to numerous recordings. His knowledge and passion for traditional Latin string instruments (Cuban Tres, Cavaquinho, Charango, Requinto) has made him a highly sought-after player in the studio scene. As an educator he currently teaches at a number of Southern California colleges and has been a staff columnist for Just Jazz Guitar Magazine.
