Ashley, writer and editor of more than 20 books, follows up on his successful The Pendragon Chronicles ( LJ 4/15/90) with this second Arthurian collection. Eighteen entries by such well-known Arthurian writers as Howard Pyle, Phyllis Ann Kerr, Keith Taylor, and Jane Yolen are included, with unexpected contributions by P.G. Wodehouse and Hilaire Belloc. Eight of the stories have never been published before, and four of those were written specifically for this compilation. The tales range in time from Dark Age Britain to the merry old England of Robin Hood to the Elizabethan period, and most have a dreamlike quality that is captivating.
