The events in the other three books will be familiar to most children?the loss of a first tooth, disagreements with siblings or best friends, the need for eyeglasses, and learning to hit a baseball are a few of the plot lines. Gr. 2^-4. Divided in sections that follow the seasons, this short chapter book begins in winter, with second-grader Christopher trying to avoid a reading test. The book's structure makes for choppy reading, and the solutions to Christopher's various problems are sometimes too pat, as when Christopher's reading problem turns out to be his needing glasses.
