Ken Rivenbark is an experienced consultant and educator who takes a hands-on approach with students and teachers as they grow together in their educational endeavors. In addition to his years as a master teacher, he is the former director of professional development for the online publisher Virtual Sage and lecturer with the Watson School of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
"This book is an excellent resource for teachers striving to improve their students’ writing as well as for college instructors who teach writing strategies. Rivenbark’s own experiences as a teacher and teacher educator ensure that his approach is practitioner-oriented and developmental in nature."
—Carol Chase Thomas, associate dean, Watson School of Education, The University of North Carolina at Wilmington
"Basic writing is one thing, writing with style in a variety of genre is another. Rivenbark, drawing on his vast classroom experiences, demonstrates specifically how teachers can help students achieve well beyond the NCTE standards."
—James L. Olivero, president, staff development Ltd., San Diego, California
"Finally, hands-on, practical lessons to teach students how to write with style. Bravo! If teachers want a way to move students beyond the simple sentence to writing with style and expression, this book is your answer!"
—William McBride, national educational consultant and author, Entertaining an Elephant
"Future writers of poetry and prose must be led to the proposition that more than intellect is involved. Ken Rivenbark has authored a convincing and persuasive insight into the challenge to the heart and soul which is central to great writing."
