Review
Deborah Bull is a principal dancer for England's Royal Ballet. Contrary to what you might think by looking at the photos of her lean and muscled body in Totally Fit, she has struggled with her weight, going through fad diets and nearly giving up dancing because it was so hard to look like a dancer while actually having enough energy to dance. Enter Torje Eike, a fitness consultant to the Royal Ballet (and, more famously, to Mick Jagger). Eike, working from sound exercise and nutritional principles, showed Bull how to have both the body and the energy. Eike's ideas are easy to grasp and implement; for example, if you cut 250 calories out of each day's diet and add in exercise that burns 250 calories, the total calorie deficit is 500. If you do that every day, you'll burn 3,500 calories a week, which is the equivalent of a one-pound weight loss. This is weight that is permanently removed, not just a temporary loss of water or muscle. Totally Fit shows the exercise methods and dietary adjustments needed to achieve this pound-per-week loss, all in a visually arresting, easily understandable format.
