About the Author
Bruce Fogle D.V.M. is a well known expert on animal behavior. He has written several acclaimed books, including Know Your Dog, New Complete Dog Care Manual, and What's Up With My Dog?

Good, basic references on dogs are always needed, as new dog owners are born every day, and Fogle, veterinarian and author of numerous books on dogs, has created one with his valuable introduction to all aspects of dog care. Beginning with canine physical characteristics, the author examines dog design, emphasizing the practical aspects of anatomy and physiology and how they are important to the dog's lifestyle. Seventy popular breeds are profiled in the following section, with short descriptions, a brief history, and sidebars of key facts and additional characteristics. The next two chapters are the real strength of the book, as Fogle discusses canine behavior and how to live with dogs. The final section provides an overview of common health concerns and what can be done to alleviate them, enlivened with numerous sidebars.
