About the Authors

Gary B. Shelly, together with co-author Tom Cashman, wrote and published his first computer education textbook in 1969. Since then, more than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman textbooks have been sold. In recent years, Gary, Tom, and a talented group of contributing authors have produced leading textbooks on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software.

Thomas J. Cashman received his education at California State University, Los Angeles. In 1960, he established one of the first business data processing programs in the United States at Long Beach City College in California, where he taught and served as department head from 1960 to 1966. In 1969, he began collaborating with now best-selling author, Gary Shelly. He has also taught summer institutes for teachers at the University of Central Oklahoma, Memphis State University, and Purdue University.

Michael L. Mick is an associate professor of Computer Information Systems and Computer Technology at Purdue University Calumet. He has authored or co-authored several textbooks for Course Technology, including Java Programming, JavaScript, and Microsoft FrontPage 2002.
