Tom Head is author or coauthor of 24 books, including Civil Liberties: A Beginner's Guide and Get Your IT Degree and Get Ahead. He covers civil liberties for About.com and the Mississippi Human Rights Report. Head serves as an elected member of the Mississippi ACLU's board of trustees, as vice-president for policy and legislation of the Mississippi chapter of NOW, as communications director for Unity Mississippi, and on the steering committee of the Jackson, MS chapter of Parents, Friends, and Families of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). He has operated online communities since 1989.
