From School Library Journal:
Grade 6-9-- A well-researched, interesting, and balanced biography. McDonough examines her subject's life and discusses both his brilliance and his foibles. Attention is given to Wright's failed marriages and unconventional relationships with women. The black-and-white photographs interspersed throughout the text present a good mix of buildings, people, and significant events from the architect's long, productive career. An excellent eight-page full-color insert shows photos of Wright's Oak Park home and studio. Further readings are suggested, but all are adult titles and will be beyond the scope of most readers. The index is incomplete and inconsistent; it refers readers, for example, to an inconsequential mention of Scientific American and several other magazines but has no reference for the Guggenheim Museum or Froebel blocks. Despite these shortcomings, the book will be useful for reports and general reading. --Jeanette Larson, Texas State Library, Austin
