About the Author:

Alan Allport grew up in Whiston, England, and received a doctorate in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. He currently teaches at Princeton University. Allport lives near Philadelphia with his family.
Jennifer Homer earned her Ph.D. in communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Her areas of expertise include American political history, the history of media and communication, and contemporary discourse in the public sphere. She lives and teaches in Philadelphia.
