The essays in this book explore the research implications of Habermas's theory for the analysis of modern problems of public life. The essays relate critical theory to industrial policy under advanced capitalism, education, the mass media and consumerism, public participation in planning, policy analysis, and critical historical studies.
About the Author
John Forester is Professor of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. His current research focuses on first-person voice and ethnographic accounts of practical and political judgment. Among his other books are Planning in the Face of Power and the edited volume Critical Theory and Public Life.
