In a remote Greek village, Captain Elias and his guerrillas in the resistance are engaged in battle with the Nazis. A church burns to the ground in a act of betrayal, and several die trying to protect a religious icon hidden there. What happens that day lies shrouded in mystery until, sixty years later, the icon surfaces on the New York art market, generating keen--and possibly deadly--interest from a variety of suitors, each wanting it for a different reason.

Neil Olson, the grandson of Greek immigrants, works in the publishing industry and lives in New York City with his wife.
Eric Conger's stage credits include appearances Off-Broadway and at the Long Wharf Theater. He has appeared as a regular on Another World and Loving, and has translated the works of Feydeau.
Olson's debut novel begins slowly and then picks up the pace dramatically. Clearly written with THE DA VINCI CODE in mind, the story concerns Nazis and Greeks and an icon known as the Holy Mother of Katarini, which allegedly contains pieces of the blood-stained robe of Jesus. Eric Conger's reading parallels the story. At first, the listener wonders at his vocal lassitude, but he comes alive as the plot intensifies. While the conclusion is predictable, the story is entertaining, and Conger's reading, particularly during the climax, makes for a satisfying, albeit uneven, novel.
