K-Gr 2-Early readers will enjoy four fun stories featuring educational YouTube sensation Blippi. This story collection includes A Pet For Blippi!, I Can Drive an Excavator!, This is My Neighborhood!, and If I Were a Dinosaur! The upbeat and cheerful text in this Level 1 for early readers is repetitive and has a simple vocabulary. Each page contains just a few short sentences. In A Pet for Blippi!, Blippi volunteers at an animal shelter. By the end of the day, he has found a new friend for himself-a puppy named Lyno. In If I Were a Dinosaur!, Blippi joyfully shares how he can stomp, fly, and have horns, just like the dinosaurs at the museum. The illustrations directly reinforce the text with their bright colors and clean lines. For example, when the text says that Blippi takes Lyno for a walk, the illustrations perfectly match, with Blippi and Lyno walking. The illustrations are reminiscent of old-school animation with a sweet, cartoonlike quality. VERDICT A great book for Blippi fans, or for libraries that need early reader books.-V.
