Synopsis

Deftly presenting a picture of a multifaceted and ever-evolving organization whose members are steeped in the traditions of internal democracy, leadership accountability, and mandated decision-making, this volume considers the complexities of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU). Answering questions such as What do COSATU workers think about their workplaces, unions, politics, and economy? Why has COSATU female members' support for the African National Council declined? and What influences COSATU members’ decisions to vote for a particular political party?, this account focuses on specific issues that challenge the federation as it moves forward.
