From Teresa of Avila to Corrie ten Boom, women of faith through the centuries have left us a rich legacy of wisdom through their examples of lives well-lived for God. A Cloud of Witnesses is a delightful introduction to some of these extraordinary women. Through fifty brief, user-friendly devotional readings, readers will:
- walk with Amy Carmichael through the streets of India, where she rescued children from Hindu temple prostitution
- consider Susanna Wesley's motherly advice to her son on resisting worldly temptations
- experience the shackles of prison with French mystic Jeanne Guyon, who found the strength to pray, "Thy will be done!"
A related Scripture reading and prayer follow each biographical account and ensure easy personal application.
Daniel and Margaret Partner are also coauthors of the companion book Women of Sacred Song: Meditations on Hymns by Women, which profiles the contributions of Christian women to music.

Margaret and Daniel Partner live in Sisters, Oregon Margaret is a church pianist, storyteller, and teacher. Daniel is an editor and writer who has been involved with numerous projects, including Bedtime Bible Story Book and Oswald Chambers Daily Devotional Bible.
The Partners have issued a rather pleasing, if small, volume of thumbnail biographies on Christian women of interest, along with suggested meditations on their life or works. Their book is distinguished not so much by the profundity of their reflections as by the attention it devotes to women too little considered now, among them Gladys Aylward, Frances Havergal, Jeanne Guyon, and Selina Hastings, Countess of Hutingdon. By no means do all of these women offer easy or unambiguous examples to follow, but the Partners negotiate the complexities gracefully. Recommended, especially where there is a strong interest in women's spirituality.
