Synopsis
This book is designed to help beginning and intermediate students acquire skills and strategies needed for effective listening. Each of the twenty-one units centers around an aspect of everyday language, such as numbers, descriptions, directions, opinions, stories. The tasks in the book provide students practice with selecting the important parts of what they hear, helping to increase their confidence in dealing with naturally spoken English. In addition to task listening exercises, each unit provides students practice in listening for specific language forms. Supplementary speaking exercises are given in the appendix.
